Our Church's Events in Buckner and Kansas City

Pastor Bob Kaps’s greatest passions in life are serving God and his family, and spreading the gospel of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But trailing very closely behind is his lifelong love of experiencing the open road on two wheels. Pastor Bob has been riding motorcycles for most of his life and has consequently always had a heart for reaching out to the Biker community in his ministries — dating back to before he ever became a pastor. And that’s why each spring since 1999, Heart of God Fellowship has hosted an annual “Biker Sunday” service targeted specifically at speaking to the hearts of bikers from all around the area.

These services are unassuming and uplifting, while bringing a message of redemption, grace and salvation to many who might otherwise never attend a church service. We enjoy great music, a free barbecue cookout, and have ministers prepared to bless the bikes of everyone who attends. It has become such a popular event that it has grown to one of the largest collections of bikers in the Kansas City area each year, attracting a couple hundred bikes every year.

As we always say, at Heart of God Fellowship we love God, we love Kids, and we love to Ride. So what better partnership could there be than the one we’ve had for the last 9 years working with Camp Quality raising money with our annual Kansas City’s Tougher Than Hell Poker Run charity ride.

Camp Quality is an organization built around offering hope to families with children who are fighting a cancer diagnosis. Camp Quality offers a network of fellowship and support to kids and families who are dealing with far more than any child should ever have to. They offer counseling, support, mentorship and other services year round, but most notably they offer summer camps for the kids themselves that allow them to simply “be kids” the way they deserve to. These camps are staffed by highly caring individuals who pour their hearts into the campers – many of whom are former campers themselves and are now mentors to other kids going through the same thing. The camps are also medically staffed to support the unique battles the campers are fighting, allowing families to feel at ease knowing that their children are well cared for. And best of all, the camps are completely FREE of charge to the campers.

At Heart of God, we can’t think of a better way to help share God’s love with His people than to help support those taking care of kids and families in need, which is why we organize the charity ride every year with all of the proceeds donated to Camp Quality.
